Dahabiya Charter Ideas: Six Group Trips and the Right Boat for Each
Families, friends, anniversaries, wellness, art and teams. Who charters a dahabiya on the Nile, and which of our four boats suits each group.
The most common dahabiya charters are family and multi-generational trips, friends’ trips, anniversary and celebration trips, wellness and yoga groups, art and culture groups, and corporate teams.
Match the group to the boat: Hathor takes up to 32 guests, Nawara up to 24 (heated pool, gym and yoga deck), Nile Majestic up to 20 (suites with private balconies) and Nile Divine up to 16 (spa and original Luxor artwork).
Charter rates, inclusions and dates are confirmed per group. Boreas replies to every enquiry within 24 hours.

A dahabiya charter is the hire of a whole dahabiya (also spelled dahabeya), a traditional Nile sailing boat with real cabins, for your own group. Nobody else is aboard, and the vessel’s own crew runs the cruise. That makes it a private river house for 8 to 32 people. Here are the six kinds of group that book it most, and the boat that fits each. For the facts about charters in one place, see our private dahabiya charter page.
1. Families And Multi-Generational Groups.
A whole boat means grandparents, parents and children share one slow trip with nobody else’s schedule to work around. Nawara suits families of up to 24, and Hathor takes up to 32 for a larger family and its friends.
- Group size
- Roughly 8 to 32 guests
- Good to know
- On Nawara, extra beds and a baby crib are available on request.
- The pace is slow. Mornings are a temple or a village walk, afternoons are the pool or a swim at an island.
- Nawara’s restaurant serves à la carte or family-style, with outdoor dining on deck.
- Nawara has a heated pool with sunbeds, and a chef’s kitchen experience where guests help cook lunch.
- Tell us ages and any mobility needs when you enquire, so we can match the boat.

2. Friends’ Trips.
A dahabiya has 8 to 12 cabins, so a group of friends fills it and has the whole river house to themselves. Nile Majestic, Hathor and Nile Divine all put a bar and a social deck at the centre of the boat.
