Quick answer

A private dahabiya charter means hiring a whole traditional Nile sailing boat, with its crew, for your own group. Boreas arranges whole-vessel charters on its dahabiyas — Nawara (12 cabins, up to 24 guests), Nile Divine (8 cabins, up to 16 guests), Nile Majestic (10 cabins, up to 20 guests) and Hathor (8 cabins and 4 suites, up to 32 guests) — sailing between Luxor and Aswan.

Charter rates, inclusions, minimum stay, itinerary and payment terms are confirmed for each group. Boreas replies to every enquiry within 24 hours.

The dahabiyas are independently owned and operated. Boreas represents them, and you book and travel through Boreas.

What A Dahabiya Charter Is.

A dahabiya charter is the hire of an entire dahabiya — a traditional Nile sailing boat with real cabins — for one group. Nobody else is aboard. The vessel’s own crew runs the cruise, and Boreas plans it with you.

This is different from a shared sailing, where you take one cabin alongside other guests. On a charter your group has the whole boat, from the sundeck to the restaurant. Dahabiyas (also spelled dahabeya) are built for this scale: eight to twelve cabins, not seventy.

01

Only your group aboard

The whole vessel is yours: cabins, decks, pool and dining.

02

Small by design

Our dahabiyas have 8 to 12 cabins. Our big Nile ships have 70.

03

Built around sails

Lateen sails set the pace. Slow, quiet and close to the river.

04

A shallow hull

It moors at islands and village banks where a cruise ship cannot reach.

The Route.

Dahabiya charters sail the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, in either direction. The great temples sit on the route, and so do quieter moorings and village walks that a big ship skips. Exact stops, their order and the number of nights are planned with your group.

Can I charter a whole dahabiya on the Nile?

Yes. Boreas arranges whole-vessel charters on its dahabiyas. Send us your group size and dates and we reply within 24 hours with availability.

Which dahabiyas can I charter?

Inclusions are confirmed in your quote. Ask us what your charter covers when you enquire.

What is the minimum number of nights?

The minimum stay is confirmed when you enquire. Tell us your preferred dates and we will confirm the options.

Who operates the dahabiyas?

The dahabiyas are independently owned and operated. Boreas represents them. You book and travel through Boreas, and each vessel’s own crew runs the cruise.

Is a dahabiya or a Nile cruise ship better for a group?

It depends on size and style. A dahabiya has 8 to 12 cabins and feels like a private yacht. Our ships, Lady Carol and Lady Mary, have 70 cabins and suit larger groups and a livelier, hotel-style trip. We represent both and will say which suits you.

Can I combine a charter with the Red Sea, Cairo or a hotel stay?

Yes. You can add hotel stays before or after, pair the Nile with a Red Sea voyage aboard the Boreas superyacht, or add a privately guided land programme. Ask us and we will build the combined trip.

How do I request a charter quote?

Use the charter request form, WhatsApp, email info@boreascruises.com or call +1 646 257 1323. Tell us your group size and dates. We reply within 24 hours.
