Questions from Wellness Travelers
Is the Red Sea saltier than the Dead Sea?
No. The Dead Sea is about 10 times saltier than the ocean. The Red Sea averages around 40 parts per thousand. The ocean average is about 35.
Can you float in the Red Sea?
Yes. The salt makes the water slightly more buoyant than the ocean. You will not float as high as in the Dead Sea. You can also swim freely.
Can you swim in the Dead Sea?
You can float in it. Swimming is hard because the water is so dense. Keep your head up and keep the water out of your eyes.
Can you snorkel or dive in the Dead Sea?
No. It has almost no marine life. The Red Sea has coral reefs, fish and dolphins.
Is Red Sea water good for your skin?
Seawater has a gentle exfoliating effect and carries minerals. Many travelers report soft skin. Results vary. Ask your doctor first if you have a skin condition.
Do I need to dive to enjoy the Red Sea?
No. You can float, swim and snorkel. Diving is optional.
