Six days of diving at Daedalus and Sataya, in the Red Sea’s big-fish country, timed around the eclipse rather than a shore excursion. Totality falls on day three, watched from the deck between dives — six minutes twenty seconds over open water.
Cabins run from twin berths on the lower deck to a king-size suite upstairs. The week stays built around the dive schedule throughout.

Why the Best Spot Is at Sea.
The longest darkness falls on the water in the far south. There are almost no hotels on that stretch of coast. A vessel can simply anchor there.
A hotel cannot move. A vessel can move if clouds build over one spot.
No buildings, no hills, no palm trees in the frame.
The captain repositions on the day if the sky demands it.
Luxor and Marsa Alam expect record visitor numbers.
The Sun sits high at totality. Deck viewing works.
Diving and reefs fill the days around the eclipse.
Totality Times Along the Red Sea Coast.
The dark zone is about 200 km wide. Move north or south inside it and the darkness gets much shorter.
Durations are calculated for fixed coastal points. Times shift with exact position.
How to Watch Safely.
Never look at the Sun without certified protection during the partial phases. Sunglasses do not work.
Use ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses for every phase except totality. Both trips supply these onboard.
- Glasses stay on from first contact until totality begins.
- Glasses come off only when the Sun is fully covered.
- Glasses go back on the moment the first light returns.
- Cameras, binoculars and telescopes need their own solar filters.

What’s the difference between the two trips?
The SuperYacht Week mixes diving, snorkeling and spa time and is open to non-divers. Queen Sherry stays focused on diving throughout and is built for advanced divers only. Both cover the same 31 July – 7 August 2027 window and the same eclipse.
Can non-divers join the SuperYacht Week?
Yes. Snorkeling, spa and wellness sessions run alongside the dive programme, and the eclipse itself is watched from the deck.
Is the Queen Sherry trip suitable for beginners?
No. This departure is built for advanced divers, with a schedule centred on Daedalus and Sataya. Guests who want a lighter pace should look at the SuperYacht Week instead.
Where is the longest totality on Egypt’s Red Sea coast?
Around Berenice and the centreline, both eclipse departures position for about 6 minutes 20 seconds. Infrastructure on land there is limited to one airport and one hotel — the water is the better option.
Can I see the total eclipse from Hurghada?
No. Hurghada lies outside the path of totality and sees a deep partial eclipse only. The nearest totality on the coast is at Quseer, about a two-hour drive south.
Why watch the eclipse from a vessel instead of a hotel?
A vessel can anchor on the centreline where no hotel exists. It also gives an open horizon and no crowds. If cloud builds over one area, the captain can reposition on the day.
What are the chances of clear skies?
The area between the Red Sea and Luxor has roughly 82 percent odds of a completely cloud-free sky in August. That is among the best conditions anywhere on this eclipse path.
Do I need special glasses to watch the eclipse?
Yes. Use ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses during all partial phases. You may remove them only during totality itself. Put them back on the moment the first sunlight returns. Cameras and binoculars need their own solar filters.
When should I book for the 2027 eclipse?
As early as possible. Hotels and charters across Egypt in eclipse week are already filling. Both trips run 31 July to 7 August 2027.
